How to stop bookings on days you are closed

Understory has no single switch that closes a whole day across all your experiences. A day is bookable for an experience only when that experience has a date (event) on it — so closing a day means taking those dates down.

This article shows the quickest ways to do that, also when you have many experiences.

Close a day for one experience

  1. Click Calendar in the navigation bar – Your upcoming dates are shown

  2. Click the date you want to close – The event details open

  3. Press the three vertical dots (⋮) and click Cancel event – The cancellation window opens

  4. If the date repeats, choose Only this event – Only the day you clicked is taken down

  5. Confirm – A date with no bookings is simply removed. If guests have booked, you choose how they are settled first — see How to Cancel Dates for an Event

Close a day for many experiences

Repeat the steps above for each experience that has a date on that day. To find them quickly, open the Calendar, switch the view to Day, and go to the date: every date running that day is listed there.

Good to know

  • Plan closed days ahead. If you add dates as a repeating series, leave closed days out when you set it up — that saves cancelling them later.

  • Dates with bookings are cancelled, not just removed. Guests are emailed, and you choose between a refund, a gift card, or no refund.
