Sometimes, when using Bloom to run Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ads, you may notice that your monthly ad spend doesn't match your set budget exactly. This is expected and relates to how Meta's systems deliver your budget, not to any issue with Bloom or your account setup.
Why doesn't my monthly spend in Bloom always match my set budget?
Requirements: You need to have connected your Meta Ad Account to Bloom and be actively running ads.
You can check your spend by navigating to Grow > Bloom in the left menu, then viewing the "Spend" tile at the top of the page for your selected month.
Here are the main reasons:
Meta paces budgets weekly, not monthly
Meta's budget delivery is based on weeks, not clean calendar months. Even if you set a "per month" budget in Bloom, Meta's pacing can result in your spend slightly over- or under-shooting your monthly target. This doesn't mean anything is wrong - it's just the way Meta smooths out ad delivery over time.Meta's system might underdeliver in some cases
If there aren't enough efficient opportunities within your chosen audience or targeting, Meta may intentionally spend less to avoid wasting your budget. This means your spend can end up below your set monthly goal if it can't find suitable placements for your ads.Performance-based spending adjustments
Sometimes, Meta’s algorithms may spend more on certain days when performance is strong. This helps maximize your results, even if it means daily spend isn't perfectly smooth. If Meta spends a bit extra one month, it will often spend less the following month to balance out your budget over time. This compensation helps keep your overall spend close to your settings, though individual months may vary.
What can I do if my spend isn't exactly as expected?
A small difference (up or down) in monthly spend is normal when using Meta ads through Bloom. There's usually no action needed from your side. If you notice a very large gap, double-check your brief settings or budget in Bloom settings, or reach out to Bloom support for help.
