When an event sells out fast, two guests can reach the payment step for the same last seats — and the slower one only finds out after paying. Hold seats during payment prevents this: when a guest goes to payment, their seats are held for a set time, so no one else can book them meanwhile.
It is off by default, and you set it for each storefront.
How to hold seats during payment
Click Storefront in the navigation bar – Your storefronts open
Open the storefront and click Edit – The storefront settings open
Find Hold seats during payment – Under the widget settings
Choose how long seats are held – 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or Off
Click Publish – The setting applies to new bookings on this storefront
Which hold time to choose
A longer hold gives guests more time to pay, but it also makes it easier for one person to block an event without booking. For popular events that sell out within minutes, a short hold such as 10 or 15 minutes is usually enough.
If a guest doesn't finish paying in time, the seats are released and others can book them.
Good to know
A booking widget embedded without a Storefront ID uses the setting of your first active storefront.
