Gift Card Configurations

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Gift Card Configurations let you set up how gift card codes are generated and how long they are valid. You can customize the duration before a gift card expires, as well as add a prefix or postfix to each gift card code. This makes your gift cards easier to recognize and manage, fitting your business needs.

How to configure your gift card settings

  1. Click Sales in the navigation bar – Opens the Sales overview.

  2. Select the Gift cards tab – Displays all gift cards.

  3. Click the Settings (gear) icon – Opens the Gift card settings window.

  4. Choose Expiry duration – Select from 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years.

  5. Enter a code prefix or postfix (optional) – Type a text that will be added to the beginning (prefix) or end (postfix) of all new gift card codes.

  6. Click Save – Your settings are applied immediately, and you’ll see a confirmation message.

What can I do with Gift Card Configurations?

Gift Card Configurations in Understory give you more control over how your business handles digital gift cards. By setting an expiry duration, you ensure all issued gift cards have a clear validity period, helping you stay organized with your offers. Customizing code prefixes and postfixes lets you add branding or organize tracking for different campaigns, events, or seasons. All changes only apply to new codes created after you save your settings. This keeps your gift card program tailored to your business, reduces confusion, and helps you provide a professional experience to your customers.
