By activating this setting, you make it easier for guests to manage their plans and receive a full refund automatically. You can also control how close to the event guests are allowed to cancel by setting the number of days in advance.
How to Allow Guests to Cancel Bookings
Requirements: Access to the Understory admin dashboard
Click Sales in the navigation bar – Sales menu opens
Click Manage (top right) – Access booking management settings
Toggle Allow guests to cancel booking ON – Guests can see cancel option
Set Can be cancelled until field – Define how many days in advance cancellation is allowed
Click outside or confirm (if prompted) – Changes saved automatically
How the 'Allow Guests to Cancel Booking' Feature Works
When enabled, this feature automatically gives your guests the option to cancel their bookings directly through their confirmation email or guest portal (if you use these communication features). If a guest cancels within your allowed window, their spot opens up for others to book and a refund is processed as per your payment settings. This helps reduce manual work for you and offers greater flexibility for your guests. Note: Changing this setting only affects future bookings, not existing ones.
