Creating an Experience in Understory lets you showcase and manage the activities you offer - like tours, classes, or workshops - all in one place. Experiences are the foundation for your business; they hold all the details your guests need and allow you to easily add new bookable dates as you grow.

How to create an Experience
Requirements: Admin or Manager role, or "Experience: Edit" permission
Click Experiences in the navigation bar – Opens the Experiences list.
Click the green "+ Experience" button in the top right – Starts a new Experience.
Fill out Experience template - Describe your experience, set booking rules, add date & location and set visibility.
Click Publish to activate your Experience – Makes your experience ready for bookings.

Describe experience - Start by entering the name of your experience, uploading images, and adding description elements (such as “What’s included” or “Practical information”).
Set booking rules (Step 1) - Customize your booking details. Set ticket types, prices, VAT, and booking questions for guests (e.g., allergies).
Add date & location (Step 2) - Decide when and where your experience takes place. Enter start/end dates and times, select location, set capacity, add languages, and connect any rooms, guides, or resources needed.
Set visibility - Choose where your experience will appear (e.g., your storefront) and whether it should be listed publicly. Add relevant categories to help guests find your experience easily.
Publish experience - Review all fields and click “Publish experience” to make it available for booking.
How Experiences work
Creating an Experience in Understory is a simple way to organize your offerings, save time on setup, and ensure guests always have up-to-date information. You can edit the Experience at any time, add or change available dates (“Events”), and tailor details as your business evolves. Many fields are optional, so you only need to fill out basic info if using the widget. The more complete your experience details, the better it appears in your Storefront and booking links.
